Overnight Into Sunday, November 1, the US Turns the Clocks Back an Hour

Daylight saving time ends November 1 at 2 a.m., when clocks fall back to 1 a.m. The time difference with family abroad shifts by an hour. We spring forward again on March 14, 2027.

Friends, a reminder: overnight from Saturday into Sunday, November 1, daylight saving time ends in the US.

At 2 a.m., clocks fall back an hour, to 1 a.m. Your phone and computer will handle it on their own, but you’ll have to reset the wall clock, the oven and the clock in your car by hand. You’ll get an extra hour of sleep, but it’ll get dark earlier in the evening.

What matters for those of us living far from home: - the time difference with family in Europe and other countries changes — double-check it before you call; - Arizona (except the Navajo Nation), Hawaii and Puerto Rico don’t change their clocks; - we switch back to daylight saving time on March 14, 2027.

My advice: if you have a flight, a meeting or a video call on Sunday morning, confirm the time in advance so you don’t show up an hour early or an hour late.
