Downpours in South Florida: Flood Watch in Effect Until 7 p.m. Monday
The ground is already soaked after the weekend, and rain will intensify during the day. Around 3 p.m., high tide brings a risk of saltwater flooding on the coast.
Friends in South Florida, be careful on the roads today.
A Flood Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 2. After Sunday’s rain, the ground is already saturated, and the downpours will get heavier during the day.
- On the coast, there is a coastal flood warning around high tide: in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, high tide is around 3 p.m.; in Key West, around 5 p.m.
- On the Atlantic beaches, the risk of rip currents is high, and a small craft advisory is in effect for boaters.
- On Tuesday, Election Day, there will be less rain, but showers and thunderstorms are possible in places.
My advice: don’t drive into flooded streets, and follow National Weather Service alerts.
