Montenegro Introduces Visas for Russian and Belarusian Citizens Starting November 1
Visa-free entry to Montenegro ends on October 31, 2026: visas are being introduced for citizens of Russia, Belarus, China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Friends, important news if you’re planning a trip to the Balkans and hold a Russian or Belarusian passport.
Montenegro’s government has changed its visa rules: starting November 1, 2026, citizens of Belarus, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey need a visa. The country is bringing its rules in line with European Union requirements.
- You can apply not only at an embassy but also at VFS Global visa centers (including in Russia).
- Montenegro is also preparing an e-visa system, but there’s no word yet on when it will launch.
- The source doesn’t say what the rules are for people who already live in the country.
My advice: if you have tickets or bookings for November or later, check the rules ahead of time on the website of Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs or with a consulate. If you’re already in Montenegro, confirm your status with them as well.
Rules and deadlines may change — always check the official source.
