Health Insurance for 2027: Enrollment on HealthCare.gov Opens November 1
You can pick or switch an ACA plan for 2027 from November 1, 2026, to January 15, 2027. For coverage to start January 1, sign up by December 15.
Friends, important news if you buy your own health insurance, without an employer!
Open enrollment for 2027 ACA (“Obamacare”) coverage starts this Saturday, November 1.
- by December 15 — choose a plan so your coverage starts January 1;
- December 16 to January 15 — you can still enroll, but coverage won’t start until February 1;
- after January 15 — only if you have a qualifying life event (a move, a new baby, losing employer coverage).
My advice: don’t wait until the last day. Compare plans ahead of time and make sure your doctors and medications are still covered under the plan you pick. Do everything only on the official site, HealthCare.gov — you don’t need paid “helpers.”
